EMERALD History & Properties
Emeralds are rich in chromium and believed to preserve love! This beautiful precious gem is considered a symbol of rebirth, success, and love. Some say this gem can provide tranquility to a troubled mind.
In ancient times, emeralds were considered sacred symbols of fertility and immortality. Cleopatra was famous for adorning herself and her home with emeralds, likely displaying wealth and power. Often, in ancient Egypt, mummies were buried wearing Emeralds to symbolize eternal youth.
Emeralds are among the rarest of gems—about 20 times rarer than white diamonds! They are typically mined in Colombia, Brazil, Afghanistan, and Zambia. A deeper and more vivid color of green signifies a more valuable gemstone. They often show some inclusions, which do not detract from the stone's value as much as with other gemstones.
